Submission Description:
Submit your work for a chance to be featured in the Downey City Library’s first ever Collective Literary Art Magazine! The magazine will highlight a collection of written and visual work created by those who have attended any of the four Collective Literary Art Magazine workshops being held this Spring. The magazine will cover a wide variety of creative themes and artistic mediums.

It is required that all submitted work was created in one of the four Collective Literary Art Magazine workshops. Participants are allowed to make adjustments or changes to their work outside of the session.

It is not required that you submit both your written work and visual art from the workshop (one or the other is acceptable), though it is highly encouraged. Participants who submit both their written and visual work will have their work displayed side by side within the magazine. Additionally, participants are allowed to submit work from multiple sessions.

Please submit each individual piece separately! Meaning, if you are submitting both your written piece and your artwork, you must fill out the form and submit twice, even if they are from the same session.

The submission deadline for all writing and artwork is Saturday, May 31st. Shortly after the deadline, we will notify all participants regarding whether their work has been accepted for the magazine. All accepted participants will receive a copy of the finished magazine.

When submitting, we ask that you submit a photograph of your writing/artwork for the
purposes of identifying the work. Written pieces can be typed and submitted as a document, rather than photographed. Upon acceptance, we will ask participants to physically deliver their artwork to the Library, so that it can be professionally documented for the magazine. This process will take place during the first couple weeks of June. After all artwork is professionally documented, production of the magazine will begin. Participants will receive regular updates via email as this process progresses.

Please email workshop@downeyca.org with any questions or concerns!
