Collective Literary Art Magazine: Journaling + Self Portraits
Back by popular demand, more workshops have been added to The Collective Literary Arts Magazine program! Missed our Spring sessions? Now's the time to get involved! Join us for Journaling + Self Portraits on July 17, 4:30pm - 7:30pm — the 1st returning session in a series of creative workshops blending writing and visual art. Take a self-reflective journey as you learn the basics of keeping a journal and how to draw a self-portrait. No experience needed!
Registration is required, for ages 16 and up! Registration will open Thursday, July 3rd on the Workshop’s page.

Join us Friday mornings in the Workshop this July for Summer sessions of the STEM Tinkering Club, hosted by educators from CSULB. Each session, we’ll explore science and engineering ideas through making: a fun hands-on process of designing, building, testing, rebuilding, and re-testing to create something new!
Students in grades 3rd-5th meet on Wednesday mornings, while students in 6th-8th meet on Friday mornings.
This session is for students who will be in grades 6th-8th.

Vision Day
Do you need glasses? Has it been more than a year since you had an eye exam? Have you lost or broken your glasses and need a new pair?
Vision To Learn, a nonprofit provider of vision services, is coming to The Downey City Library to provide free vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to the youth in need. (4 years old – 18 years old)
If you have a current glasses prescription (less than a year old) please bring it with you to this event.
Appointments are not required but are encouraged.

Tie dye bags, towels, clothes, and more! In this session, you'll be able to tie dye an item of your choice. All tie dying materials will be provided, including a limited supply of tote bags and tea towels available to dye. Any other items, including clothing, will not be provided, but we encourage participants to bring their own.

Button Making in the Workshop
Join us in the Workshop to create custom buttons!
In this activity session, you can design and create wearable buttons using our button press. All materials will be provided, including colored pencils, markers, paint pens, and various collage materials. Please note that we will limit 3 buttons per participant.
